Keeper (Alpha Athletes #2) Page 7
“Next time, love.” He waggled his eyebrows.
I nodded, not able to comprehend next time. I wanted this time. I wanted this with him now. I wanted him to fulfill his promise and fuck me properly. It was such a perfectly British way to put it.
He rolled the condom on and rubbed the tip up and down between my slit.
“Please, Lachlan.”
“I own you, don’t I?”
I’d never been so exposed or vulnerable. This man ruled me and I liked it.
“All of me.”
He palmed my breasts, pinching and squeezing my nipples. I inhaled sharply, feeling the tightening in my core.
“Damn, everything makes you wet.” He grinned. “I like it. It’s fucking hot.”
And that was when he slammed into me. I screamed his name as his solid cock filled me with blinding ecstasy. I met his thrust with one of my own, desperate to pull him in. Desperate to cling to him, clench his massive shaft.
Sex with Lachlan was incomparable. We were in our own universe. We were lost in pure physical rapture. He pushed deep inside and I clutched at his shoulders. The sweat dripped from his throat and rolled along the smooth planes of his chest.
His hands traveled over my body, exploring my skin, caressing my curves. He kissed my neck and throat, biting my shoulder, licking the saltiness of my skin. And when his orgasm built, he looked in my eyes.
“Fuck, Aspen,” he groaned.
His muscles tensed, and with one forlorn look, I fell into his trap. I bought the sex pitch. I let go of the control I had over my body. He pumped harder and faster, driving a third orgasm into me.
“Lachlan, I can’t…” I didn’t know how to say it. I didn’t know how to describe it.
“Fuck, yeah.” He dove forward while I wrapped my legs tighter around his waist.
I felt his shaft pulse with aftershocks while the last waves traveled through him.
He collapsed against my chest, and I sighed with satisfaction.
“I can’t believe.” I gasped for air. “That was amazing,” I whispered.
He pushed off the bed. “I meant what I said, Ava. I want to fuck you with nothing between us. You’re mine.”
And I felt it. He had taken my body and given it a special gift. I didn’t want it back. It could be his as long as he wanted. Beyond the Olympics. Beyond Rio.
I smiled sleepily. We still had time before dinner. Enough for a nap while Lachlan drew lazy circles on my stomach.
Chapter Seventeen
Lachlan
I squeezed her hand before we walked inside the restaurant. I leaned toward Aspen’s ear. “You’re fucking incredible.” She was wearing an aqua dress that hugged her curves. “No one shags like you, love.”
She looked up at me with those beautiful blue eyes. “Language,” she warned.
“I don’t give a fuck about language.”
Her eyes darkened. “Out here you do.”
I huffed. She was right. She had done everything on her end. She was fucking amazing in bed. The way her body moved. The sounds she made. The way she tasted. All of her—I wanted all of it. And I had it. For now.
I held the door to the restaurant. There was a small group of paps outside near the bushes. Aspen said she chose this place so we would be sure to be seen together. I heard them call my name, baiting me to make some shitty comment.
“Lach, who’s the girl?”
“Going to practice again, Lach? Or do you just skip out now?”
“Hey, smile for us. Come on.”
Aspen spun on her heels. “I think we should take a few. And it wouldn’t hurt to answer a few questions while we’re over there.”
The resentment sprung forward. I hated the press. “Those bastards have ruined my life.”
Her hand rested on my forearm, steadying me. “They only share what they see. Give them something good to share.” She smiled warmly. “Use them to your benefit.”
I groaned. “Fine.”
We turned for the gaggle hovering on the sidewalk. “Hi, chaps.” I waved.
The response was immediately frantic. I heard almost as many pictures as the day I hit the photographer.
After ten minutes of smiling and answering questions Aspen nodded toward the door. “We do have reservations.”
“All right, guys. I’ve got dinner reservations with this beautiful woman. You can understand we need to get in there straight away.”
It was amazing how quickly they had morphed from an angry mob of hornets to a docile group of moths. They shrugged and backed away. All I had to do was give them what they wanted.
I grinned at Aspen and led her inside to our table. Her plan had been brilliant.
There was a girl I liked when I was in secondary school. She was quiet and shy. I was a footballer and I don’t think she ever went to a single sports game. She was an artist. I never asked her out. I didn’t make time for girls then. I didn’t make time for them now. Sometimes I wondered what would have happened if I had. What course would my life have taken if I had asked Annika Swanson to a dance or out to the theater? Would she have trapped me? Corralled me? Told me to stop smoking. Scorned me for drinking. Closed her eyes if I tried to reach under her skirt in a dark car? I didn’t know because I didn’t ask.
But there was something about Aspen that made me want to know all those things I never let myself think about. I was in the middle of my own charade, but it reminded me of those gazes at Annika. It reminded me I had chosen to live life alone without true companionship.
“You going to let me drink, love?” I asked, pulling her chair out.
“Not in front of everyone.”
“We’re in Rio. Not the Vatican,” I grumbled. “A bloke can have a pint.”
“But you don’t have a pint. You have ten pints.” She picked up the menu in front of her. “I don’t have a problem with alcohol, but in public we have to keep it virgin.”
The word made me laugh, probably more because it made her blush.
“You know what I mean,” she quickly added. “You have to think about what people see. We’re trying to convince parents that their children should buy your video game. If they see you out every night with a beer in your hand, that’s not going to happen.”
“Why did you offer the endorsement to me in the first place?” I leaned over. “Why me? I’ve never lived on the quiet side of the street.”
“What are you going to order?” She avoided my question.
“Aspen, answer me.” I didn’t care what the night’s special was.
Her shoulders sank. “It wasn’t my decision. I took over for the guy who had your original contract.”
“And you don’t agree with his decision, do you?”
“I-I didn’t know you before yesterday. What was going on before then doesn’t matter.”
I was angry, but I didn’t know where it came from. Had she resented me from the beginning?
She rested her hand on top of mine. “Don’t be mad, Lachlan. I wasn’t a part of the account before, but I am now. And this arrangement we have is something I like.” She looked at me.
I felt a possessive pang in my chest. I didn’t know if it was possible to have enough of her. To get enough of her.
“Then let’s flip the rules for a minute,” I spoke lowly.
“What do you mean?”
“I want you to get up and walk into the women’s lounge. Take those panties off and wait for me.”
Her eyes widened, but I saw the way they darted to the table.
“Oh no. We can’t,” she whispered.
“We will.”
I sat back in my seat. “Go.”
Chapter Eighteen
Aspen
Something made me stand and walk to the women’s lounge. I’d never done anything like this in my life. I walked inside the wallpaper-lined room. It wasn’t a bathroom—just a place women could adjust their makeup or talk about their dates. I wished we had rooms like this in the States. There was a gilded mirror on o
ne wall with a counter. I stared at my reflection as I reached under my dress and hooked my fingers under the strap of the lacy thong I had picked out for tonight. I wiggled my hips until my heels stepped through and I balled the fabric into my fist.
Two minutes later, the door cracked open and I let out a breath when I saw it was Lachlan. I was scared to death some little old Brazilian woman was going to come in to powder her nose.
He grinned. “Let me see.”
I held up the panties.
“Good girl,” he growled, locking the door behind him.
I had no idea what he wanted, only that I was part of it. It made me shiver and tingle all over.
He cut the distance between us and stopped to brush the hair from my shoulder. “Every man here knows you’re with me.” He kissed my throat.
I nodded. I’d never felt more beautiful or possessed since I had walked in this restaurant with Lachlan.
“But it’s not enough,” he growled.
“It’s not?” My head rocked back.
His fingers pressed into my thigh and traveled along the softness of my skin until I felt them dip between my wet folds. I sighed. Everything was tender and sore, but somehow I still wanted his touch. He pressed deeply with his thumb.
“No.” He kissed behind my ear. “I want to fuck you again.”
“Oh, God.” I trembled.
“But I thought I could have my dessert first.”
He wrapped his hands around my waist and lifted me from the floor, carrying me to the counter. He shoved my dress to my hips as he lowered to his knees. I didn’t have time to react as his fingers glided over my clit, circling my entrance. The heat spread through my belly.
I started to rock and tilt as he coaxed my juices to flow for him. He pushed my knees wider and I balanced myself with my palms flattened on the counter as he blew over my exposed clit. His warm, powerful breath made me whimper.
“Fuck, Lachlan,” I moaned.
But he didn’t stop. His tongue whipped back and forth, strumming my clit as I jutted forward. He latched with his mouth, sucking while I whimpered for my release.
“Do you like it when I fuck you with my tongue?”
“God, yes,” I replied, trying not to scream out.
“Tell me.”
I wiggled forward, wanting his tongue back inside me, shifting my hips wildly for him.
“I want your tongue inside me. Fucking me,” I whispered.
“God, I love your dirty mouth.”
He licked over my clit before swirling and twisting his tongue in my entrance. My eyes opened as I glanced over my shoulder at our reflection. What I saw was the most erotic thing I’d seen in my life. Lachlan’s head was buried between my thighs while my dress was hiked around my waist. My hair fell down my back and my body had a new seductive rhythm I didn’t know I was capable of.
He lifted my leg over his shoulder, giving him access to lick and suck deeper. As soon as I felt the deep pad of his thumb circle my clit, I knew I couldn’t hold back. I held and clenched, holding on to the last seconds that were mine before I gave everything to him. But there was no defense. He knew my body already. His tongue slid back and forth and I wanted to come in his mouth.
The orgasm hit me with sudden force. I convulsed around him, clenching and thrashing while his tongue moved in and out.
When I finally stopped moving, he rose from the floor and smiled at me. “So fucking hot.”
I pressed my forehead against his chest. I didn’t know what to say. His heart beat as loudly as mine did.
He held his hand out for me to take. “Should we have dinner?”
I looked at him questioningly. I was sure he had more planned.
“Don’t worry, love. There’s more once we get back to the hotel.” He smiled widely.
I didn’t know how in the hell I was going to walk out of this room. My legs were unsteady like noodles and I was completely flushed. If people didn’t know I was Lachlan’s before—they’d have no doubt now. I could feel the hold he had on me. The way he had offered something to me I never thought I would like. I didn’t know I could be the kind of woman who wanted to be possessed.
I took a deep breath with the new realization about myself.
“Oh, I need a second to get these back on.” I held up the panties.
He grabbed them and threw them in the trash. “From now on, no panties, love.”
My mouth dropped, but I didn’t argue. I now knew I had lost all control. Lachlan Kenzie owned me.
Chapter Nineteen
Lachlan
The sweat dripped from my brow. I wiped it away with the back of my hand. The pitch was hotter than the rest of the stadium, but I played on. This was our last practice until the tournament started tomorrow.
We were lucky we got to play in Rio. Some of the other teams had to travel hours away for their matches.
I dodged to the ground as a ball came toward me. I held it forward and kicked it toward centerfield. If the guys played like this, we’d never score. They hadn’t gotten one past me yet.
I’d like to think it was because I was that damn good, but I knew the other side of that was that our offense needed work.
I grabbed the net between my fingers and plucked at the rope, watching the action at the other end of the field. No one was getting anything out of this scrimmage.
For the past few days, I had done everything Aspen advised. I made statements after each practice, taking extra time for the press. I went to lunch with the guys. I signed autographs and posed for pictures with kids lining the sidewalks. I did all the things I hated doing. All the things I never had time to do before.
Before Aspen took the reins and convinced me she was the expert in public relations. The girl knew her shit. I stuck to football. She stuck to the optics.
It was a hell of a deal we had.
I showered after practice, and changed into the suit Aspen had bought for me. I pushed the tie close to my neck. The woman had taste.
“Looking brilliant, Lach.” Taylor held his bag over his shoulder.
“Thanks,” I grumbled. I didn’t feel comfortable in the clothes. I preferred my jeans and T-shirts.
“You’ve had a good week,” he added. He was hanging back from the rest of the team.
“It’s been all right.” The truth was it had been better than all right, but I didn’t know Taylor well enough to divulge my personal life.
“Glad to see you’re on the team and that lawsuit blew over. That’s all I wanted to say.”
“Thanks.”
If it hadn’t been for Aspen, none of it would have vanished. I would have continued to spin out of control. I was a different man five days ago.
“I guess we better get out of here. Big day tomorrow.”
I followed him into the tunnel. We emerged into the sunlight to the rows of reporters. The heat wave was supposed to break tomorrow. I’d be glad to wear the suit without sweating.
“What do you think about facing Germany tomorrow?”
“Who on the team are you worried about the most?”
Taylor looked at me and smiled. “Do want to take that one?”
I shrugged and answered the crowd. “We aren’t worried about any one player. Germany has a strong team. We’ll focus on what we do best.”
“What about you, Lach? Do you think they’ll get any by you?”
“I don’t see that happening.”
Taylor slung an arm around my shoulder. “We’re confident we have the best keeper in the world.”
It was nice to hear, but I didn’t need him to stroke my ego. But I took notes. Taylor Dirks was popular with the fans and possibly more popular with the press. He gave them time. He smiled. He always complimented his mates. He gave them sound bites like that one.
I looked over the crowd and spotted Aspen leaning against a car. She was scrolling through her phone, but glanced up and smiled.
It hit me out of nowhere, but I felt something twinge beneath my ribs when I
locked eyes on her. Fuck.
What in the hell was happening?
I saw her standing there and all I could think about was walking over there and taking her in my arms. I wanted to kiss the hell out of her in front of all the reporters.
It was a moment I couldn’t explain or describe. I didn’t know if it was her hair or the way she absently smiled at me, but there was something in her eyes that hooked me. I almost stumbled with the realization.
No other woman made me react like this. No other woman lasted more than a day.
Taylor answered another question, but it was just background noise. I stepped around them, making my way to the most beautiful woman in Rio.
“Hi.”
“I can tell it’s going well. You are finally trending for something other than a scandal.” She smiled. “You look good with the press.” I could tell it made her happy.
I couldn’t help it. I snaked my arms around her waist, drawing her to me. “I look good with you,” I growled before planting a hungry kiss on her mouth.
She moaned a little before making some space between us. She looked up, trying to read my eyes.
“Sometimes I don’t know about you, Lachlan.”
“What do you mean?”
She looked at the pavement. “It’s nothing.”
I tilted her chin upward. “Tell me.”
“It’s just—sometimes I think this is all real.” She lowered her eyes. “You make it seem so real. Sometimes I forget.”
Was it fucking real? Was that why my chest seized when I saw her? Was that why my arms ached to hold her? Did we make reality out of a fake relationship?
I pulled the sunglasses from my face. “Does it matter?” I asked.
She shook her head. “No. We have an arrangement. I shouldn’t have said anything. Only two weeks left, right? Then you can go back to England.”
My hand landed on her elbow as she turned for the car door. “No, wait, Aspen. I was thinking the same—”
But before I could finish my sentence, the paps were on my back. I felt the shove as they swarmed us. I tried to shield Aspen, but I was too late. One of the photographers lunged forward to get a close up of her and knocked her into the side of the car.
